About Shrunk

Shrunk is a free tool that lets you compress, resize and convert images directly in your browser. There are no uploads, no accounts and no usage limits. Drag in a single photo or a whole folder, and Shrunk handles the rest — decoding, resizing and re-encoding entirely on your own machine.

Why we built it

Most "online" image compressors quietly send your photos to a remote server, process them there, and send them back. For private photos, client work and internal screenshots, that's a lot of trust to place in a website. We thought the better default was obvious: do the work on the device that already has the file. Modern browsers are fast enough to compress hundreds of images locally, so there's simply no need to upload anything.

How it works

Shrunk uses your browser's built-in image pipeline together with Web Workers, so heavy processing runs in the background without freezing the page. You stay in control of quality, dimensions and output format, with a before/after preview so you can see exactly what you're saving before you download.
